Depending on the type of ants, they may even swarm up violently shelling the victim quickly.

Millions of people all around the world are bitten by ants and understanding how to treat Ant bites is important even if the reaction is mild. In most cases, swelling, redness and itching are the symptoms linked with Ant bites. Severe symptoms include anaphylactic shock (reaction of the entire body to the ant bite). Symptoms of anaphylactic shock include swelling of the mouth, throat, lungs and the trachea. In such case, patients should seek for immediately medical attention, failing to do so may prove fatal.

Treating ant Bites

• Use warm water and anti-septic soap to wash the bitten area. Pat the area dry with a soft cloth.

• Form a thick paste using baking powder and water and apply it around the bitten area. This is a natural treatment for reducing the inflammation and itching.

• In case of allergic symptoms use a tablet of Benadryl (if you don’t suffer any allergic reaction to the drug). Admiration of Benadryl tablets can reduce the uneasiness caused by the allergic symptoms.

• Don’t scratch or drain the pustule that forms around the ant bite. Harmful bacteria can enter, and cause further complication, if the pustule is removed. On formation of large pustule or odor, seek for immediately medical attention.

• In case of any other reaction, inflammation or swelling, fever and drainage from the wound, consult your local health service provider immediately. This may be the result of overproduction of the substance histamine.

Advices and warning

• Stay away from ant mound and move away as fast as possible if you come in contact with any mounts. Stay safe, stay away from ant mounds.

• On occurrence of severe allergic reaction, consult a doctor, failure to do so may even lead to death.
